How we verify

Anyone can call themselves a financial adviser on a website. Only some people are allowed to. FIZO checks which is which, using the regulators’ own public registers, and shows you the result on every listing.

The registers we use

How a match is made

We compare each listing’s business name, state and suburb with the register. A badge is only shown when the names genuinely match on their distinctive words, not on similar letters. Today 81,995 of 114,581 listings are matched.

Every month, again

Registrations lapse. Each month we re-run every match. If a registration has lapsed or been cancelled, the badge comes off the same day and the listing says so.

What a badge does not mean

A badge means the business is on the register. It is not a recommendation, a review or a guarantee of the quality of their work. Look the business up yourself using the link on its listing, and ask them about fees before you engage them.

No register, no badge

Bookkeepers who are registered BAS agents are checked against the Tax Practitioners Board register like tax agents. Other bookkeepers, conveyancers in some states and lawyers are regulated differently, and there is no single national public register FIZO can match against. Those listings show what the business tells us. Paying FIZO never buys a badge.
